Thankfully, we do have a few clues courtesy of a blogpost on the official Xbox Wire titled ‘ The Future of Survival Games Begins with Ark 2‘ which is written by Jeremy Stieglitz and Jesse Rapczak, Co-creators of Ark and Co-founders of Studio Wildcard.
Obviously there’s a feeling that it will be similar to the first game, but it’s more interesting how Studio Wildcard intends to evolve the experience for this entirely new chapter. With the game still quite far out we’ve not been given a whole heap of specifics about ARK 2 and the gameplay players can expect. We would have to imagine that with zero marketing for the game, it’s either going to launch completely out of the blue, or it’s had some difficulties in development which means we could easily see it being delayed into 2023.
However, since that original reveal we’ve heard absolutely nothing about the game from the studio. Studio Wildcard said the game would launch in 2022, and at the time of writing, we still have plenty more months left in the year. Has ARK 2 Been Delayed?įor now, we have to assume that ARK 2 has not been delayed.

It also looks an awful lot like Vin Diesel, who we know will be the lead character of ARK 2. You can even play it, along with a good deal of the DLC, on Xbox Game Pass.The latest trailer for ARK: Survival Evolve’s last expansion – named Genesis Part 2 – has just dropped and it appears to show some bald chap exiting a stasis booth at the end of the trailer. If you simply can’t wait to dive in and start pummeling dinosaurs into submission, the first Ark: Survival Evolved game is currently available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The “hyper-realistic intelligent dinosaurs” suggests cunning enemy AI, although we’ll have to wait and see whether it’s a dramatic step up from the first Ark. The Xbox Wire post promises “a brutal new world of primitive survival against both beast and man, facing down the ever-present threats of hyper-realistic intelligent dinosaurs, aggressive alien fauna and the exotic environments of an unearthly planet.” Since the Ark 2 trailer doesn’t contain any gameplay, it’s hard to say what differences to expect compared to Ark: Survival Evolved. If you ever wondered how long you’d last if you got stranded in Jurassic Park, Ark 2 should give you a reasonable approximation. In short, it’s a survival game, with some light sci-fi trappings and dinosaurs. You need to keep yourself fed and hydrated you can build shelters and set up farms you can train mounts you can find new blueprints to build even more effective gear. That means you’ll start off with very limited resources, then hunt and tame dinosaurs to build up your inventory. Presumably, it will follow roughly the same structure as gameplay in Ark: Survival Evolved. Oddly, we know very little about the gameplay in Ark 2.
